Working in the Friends of WHH Foyer Shop at William Harvey Hospital, we need volunteers to help on the tills.

Retail & Charity Shops

Talking To Others, Teamwork, Listening

All training will be given. Ability to talk to customers, work on the tills (or shelf filling if preferred) and good time-keeping are needed. The tills do all the maths, but basic maths is helpful. Ability to adhere to current Covid restrictions, including wearing a facemask at all times are required by the hospital in which we work. Risk assessments will be carried out on each prospective volunteer by the EKHUFT Trust. DBS will be required before starting volunteering with us.

Our volunteers work short 3-4 hour shifts, which they agree in advance. Some work multiple shifts per week, some once a month. Some during the week, some at weekends only. Our volunteers often stay for decades, so we know it's enjoyable! There is a real social aspect to speaking to customers, as well as amongst the volunteer and shop team. We value our volunteers highly as the public front for our charity - through which we make money to buy equipment for WHH, for the benefit of patients. So not only are you enjoying yourself, you are making a real difference for local people.
