Samaritans - Volunteer Listener

Bedford Samaritans

You did not enter a postcode in the search, or the postcode for this role is unknown.

Samaritan listening volunteers ensure that we are able to continue to offer support to those in need. We are looking for listening volunteers who can offer regular time to listen every month. Most of our volunteers complete 3 shifts each with each shift lasting 3.5 hours - one of which is between 10.30pm to 2am or 2am - 5.30am. They self select these to fit around their life.
You don’t need any formal qualifications, just a natural ability to listen non-judgementally, show empathy and offer emotional support. All volunteers receive special training in listening skills. We are not counsellors because we do not give advice – we just try to understand how a person feels by giving them our total attention and really listening.
