Spectrum Community Arts provides performing arts workshops for children and adults with disabilities; building self-esteem and self-expression.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Event and Workshop Support Volunteer role is suited to those who are unable to commit regular hours and time to our weekly workshops and ad-hoc events and instead prefer to volunteer on an ‘as and when’ basis to fit around your availability and commitments.

Support Volunteers will always be notified of opportunities available. These opportunities are varied and can include, but not limited to:

-Assisting in a weekly workshop to cover volunteers who are sick or on leave
-Supporting and assisting in the planning and organisation of events
-Attending and assisting in ad-hoc/one off workshops/clubs
-Attending and assisting at Fundraising events
-Attending and assisting at participant performances/shows

In most cases Event and Workshop Support Volunteers will be assisting and supporting in areas which are participant, customer and public facing and will be expected to act professional, courteous and attentive toward them. You will perform a vital role ensuring our participants and the public attending events and workshops have an enjoyable and positive experience, maintaining and providing a high level of customer care and practical assistance.

Specifically in relation to assisting and supporting at events, you will be expected to get to know your surroundings as you will be a point of contact for the public, as well as being aware of issues such as medical emergencies and fire emergencies. You will also need to be able to relay important information to event personnel and management.

The support you can provide in this role can be so varied that no two days will be the same. No experience is necessary to undertake this role, however we ask all Volunteers to bring energy, positivity and the desire to participate wherever you are working.

WEEKLY WORKSHOPS:

On occasions we may call upon our Event and Workshop Support volunteers and request for support to attend and assist at one of our weekly workshops, which in most cases would be due to sickness or leave.

There is no expectation for Event and Workshop Support Volunteers to commit to attending workshops as this would largely be dependant on a number of factors including your time, availability and location at the time the support is needed.
