We need someone who wants to make a difference to children's lives by supporting them with their feelings of loneliness. As a volunteer befriender you will explore with a young person their strengths and vulnerabilities, current sources of support, resilience and goals, and steps they can take to help overcome feelings of loneliness'

Befriending, Buddying & Mentoring,Youth Work

Basic IT skills - internet & email, Language Skills

Commitment to NSPCC values and representing NSPCC in the role and beyond Passionate about helping young people with their feelings of loneliness. Great communication skills, and ability to build rapport. Patient, empathetic and perceptive. Can work effectively through a set model of support. Emotional resilience. Confident working from home whilst being supported remotely. Technically competent /Good I.T skills

When you volunteer with us, you will get a sense of being part of a team and making a difference. You'll receive training, support will be on offer from Befriending Coordinators, regular supervisions and group sessions for learning and development. Our Volunteer Hub has been developed to give volunteers access to all of the tools, resources and information they’ll need to feel equipped, connected and inspired. You have articles to see the impact you are making, online learning and discussion groups to help you connect and collaborate with your peers across the NSPCC.​ You’ll also see all of the opportunities available to you, including voluntary and paid positions, as well as our events section.
