There is no special background needed to mentor—just your life experience and a willingness to support a young person. Our only ask is that you must be 18 or older.

Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect:

· Every area has a Youth Support Coordinator (YSC) who’ll be your go-to person. They match mentors with young people.

· You’ll start with a quick intro chat with your YSC, then get booked in for two online training sessions:

o Mentor Training (2 hours)

o Safeguarding Training (1 hour 15 mins)

· We’ll pay for an enhanced DBS check and follow up with your two references.

Once onboarding is complete, your Youth Support Coordinator will match you with a young person—and your mentoring journey begins!

What to expect when mentoring:

· You will have weekly contact with your young person, this may include messaging, phone call or meeting in the community for 1-2 hours a week.

· You’ll have £15 a week to spend during these meet ups which you can expense back to us. (This is in addition to travel expenses).

· You will be guided throughout the journey by your designated Youth Support Coordinator with additional support from the Volunteering Team and our Safeguarding Lead.

· We will share resources to support and guide you on what activities you can do while mentoring.

· You will receive invites to our optional online Mentor Forum, hosted by specialist speakers. Plus, local volunteer meetups in your area.

· You will have access to Think Tank Academy, an online accredited training, and qualifications provider in Health & Social Care.
