We are seeking a new Chairperson to promote and protect the Icknield Way. Our current Chairperson, Tom, has led the organisation successfully for nearly 10 years During this time we launched the Great Chalk Way group with the Friends of the Ridgeway, began the process of seeking National Trail status for the Icknield Way via links with MPs along the route, and organised new information boards along the route. We are now looking for a new Chairperson to lead us. Tom will stay on the Executive Committee in his other roles managing our website and guidebook sales.

Our primary aim is to urge the official adoption of the Icknield Way as a National Trail linking the Ridgeway and Peddars Way National Trails. We also promote and publicise the use of the Way, and promote a body of informed opinion to improve the enjoyment and knowledge of Icknield Way. This means we campaign for National Trail status with the help of local MPs, maintain a website for the Path, Trail and Great Chalk Way, and update and sell our guidebooks for people wanting to use the routes.

The main role of the Chairperson is to oversee the direction of the organisation and our volunteers. We also want to find someone who will be a proactive contact for the IWA and its aims, helping to promote the Icknield Way in meetings with other organisations. As well as being comfortable leading meetings, our ideal Chairperson will be passionate about seeking National Trail status for the Icknield Way and the Great Chalk Way, and have time to work with our Executive Committee and take on a share of the annual workload.
