Volunteer Bike Workshop Helper - Join our friendly team at the Sue Ryder Bicycle Repair Workshop in Luton and help make a real difference in your local community.
This flexible volunteer role is ideal for anyone with bicycle repair experience or an interest in learning new skills.
Whether you're looking for work experience, hoping to meet new people, keep active, or give something back, volunteering with us offers a rewarding opportunity to gain valuable insight into our work while supporting our service users and their families.

Practical Work & DIY,Retail & Charity Shops

Basic IT skills - internet & email, Building & Maintenance, Language Skills, Organising & Planning

Interest in bicycles, cycling, and bicycle maintenance. Basic knowledge of bicycle components and how they work, or a willingness to learn. Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively. Good practical and mechanical skills. Attention to detail when inspecting, repairing, and servicing bicycles. Ability to follow repair procedures and workshop safety guidelines. Problem-solving skills to help identify and resolve basic mechanical issues. Willingness to learn new repair and maintenance techniques. Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team. Physically able to carry out workshop tasks, including moving and lifting bicycles when required. Reliable, organised, and able to manage time effectively. Enthusiastic about helping provide safe, affordable bicycles for the local community.

You will meet new people and become part of our wonderful team. Volunteering with us is flexible, with hours that can be arranged to suit your availability. You will join a friendly team, make new friends, and receive full training along with ongoing support. This opportunity will help you gain confidence, develop bike repair and maintenance skills. As a volunteer, you will make a meaningful difference while enjoying a 50% discount on donated items across all our shops. Travel costs can reimbursed as part of your role. You will also be able to join in with any of our internal network activities.

We are flexible around your availability, but do recommend being able to stay at least 2 hours when with us.
