Royal Elderly Care and Wellbeing CIC is seeking compassionate and reliable volunteers who are passionate about improving the lives of older adults.

As a Royal Companion Volunteer, you will provide friendship, conversation, emotional support, and meaningful social connection through home visits, telephone calls, online companionship, and community activities.

Many older adults experience loneliness and isolation. Your time, kindness, and presence can make a significant difference to someone’s confidence, wellbeing, and sense of belonging.

Basic IT skills - internet & email, Counselling, Language Skills, Organising & Planning

We are looking for friendly, reliable and compassionate volunteers who can communicate well with older adults. Volunteers should have good listening skills, patience, empathy, and respect for confidentiality and personal boundaries. No previous care experience is required as training and support will be provided.

By volunteering with Royal Elderly Care and Wellbeing CIC, you will make a meaningful difference in the life of an older person experiencing loneliness or isolation. You will gain valuable experience in health and social care, develop communication and relationship-building skills, receive training and support, meet new people, and become part of a compassionate community making a positive impact. This opportunity is ideal for students, retired professionals, individuals exploring a career in healthcare or social work, and anyone who wishes to give back to their community.

Flexible commitment of approximately 1–3 hours per week. Volunteers can choose times that suit their availability, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends. We ask volunteers to commit consistently where possible to help build meaningful relationships with older adults.

This is a community-based volunteering opportunity supporting older adults across Luton, Dunstable and surrounding Bedfordshire areas. Volunteers may meet at community venues such as Sundon Baptist Church or support older adults in their homes, over the telephone, or through online companionship. Specific locations and arrangements will be agreed following induction and volunteer matching.
