Ageing Well in Lewisham is seeking a reliable, friendly volunteer chef to assist on a fill-in basis at our Silver Lunch Club for older people. Day/ hours: every Thursday, 11 am-3 pm. Location: Wesley Halls, 2 Shroffold Road, BR1 5PE. We have a regular chef, but sometimes get stuck when she is unable to attend. This role would not be regular, but on a fill-in basis with as much advance notice of dates needed as possible.

You would liaise with our Project Coordinator on the menu (the Project Coordinator would do the shopping). You would prepare a meal and pudding for about 18-25 older people. You also would help where needed with setting up/ putting away table and chairs, chatting with members, some washing up, and putting away supplies. You would be assisted by the Project Coordinator and 2-3 volunteers. Candidates should have the proper training/ food prep and hygiene certification and some experience cooking for larger numbers.

Applicants should have Level 1 & Level 2 Food Hygiene certification to prepare meals. Ability to work well in a busy kitchen with volunteers. A friendly demeanor and willingness to chat with our older attendees also a plus.

If you are looking to gain experience cooking for larger groups, this is an ideal opportunity without strict commitment as the days you are required will be intermittent. We offer a friendly environment and the potential for more training when possible.

We will try to give you as much advance notice of the days you'll be needed as possible. Volunteers arrive at about 11 am and leave by about 3 pm at the latest.
