Youth Mentor – Sea Turtles (Ages 5–10 SEND Club)

Youth Mentors support the delivery of our Sea Turtles group, an inclusive SEND youth club for children aged 5–10.

This role is ideal for young people aged 16–17 who would like to build confidence, gain experience, and develop skills while supporting younger children in a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities include:
• Supporting group activities and play-based learning
• Encouraging confidence, participation, and inclusion
• Being a positive role model for younger members
• Assisting the team with setting up and running sessions
• Supporting communication and engagement during activities

Youth Mentors will have opportunities to get involved in a range of activities and, if they wish, help lead small parts of sessions with full support and guidance.

This role does not include personal care responsibilities.

We are looking for friendly, patient, and reliable individuals who are willing to learn and get involved. No experience is required.

As this role is for volunteers under 18, parent or guardian consent will be required prior to starting, in line with our health, safety, and safeguarding procedures.

Training and ongoing support will be provided.

No formal qualifications are required. We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, reliable, and supportive, with an interest in working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Training will be provided and must be completed before starting. This role is a great opportunity to build confidence, develop communication skills, and gain experience in a supportive environment.

Gain valuable experience working with children and young people with SEND, build confidence, and develop communication and teamwork skills. Be part of a supportive team, meet new people, and have opportunities to help lead activities with guidance. This role is ideal for those looking to gain experience for future education or career pathways.

Weekly sessions during term time (approximately 2–3 hours per week, including setup and pack down). We provide a supportive and flexible environment and can discuss availability where needed.

Both locations are easily accessible via local bus routes and nearby train stations. Full directions and venue details will be provided prior to sessions.

We also welcome individuals who would like to build confidence, improve social skills, or meet new people, including those who may experience mental health challenges. No experience is required. We provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where everyone can learn, grow, and feel part of a team.
