Debt is lonely. You could be the friendly face that helps someone through it.

Bromley CAP Partnership is run by local churches across the borough. Since 2017 we've helped 73 local people clear £1.4 million of debt. Our befrienders make sure nobody goes through that alone.

What you'll do

Join our Debt Centre Manager and Debt Coaches on client visits, focusing on the person rather than the paperwork
Meet clients socially between visits and help them find connection and community
Pray for clients and, where they're open to it, share your faith and introduce them to a local church

Who we're looking for

This role is for committed Christians. You'll need a personal faith in Jesus, be an active member of a local church, and be able to agree with CAP's Statement of Faith.

You'll also be:

A warm, non-judgemental listener
Trustworthy with confidential information
Steady under pressure and good with boundaries
Able to travel to home visits

What's involved

You'll get training and work alongside our experienced team. An enhanced DBS check is required. Hours are flexible and fit around you.

Make a real difference locally. Since 2017 we've helped 73 Bromley people clear £1.4 million of debt, and you'd be part of that work. Put your faith into action. You'd serve people in your own community and see lives change, with your own faith at the heart of it. Training and support. You'll get training for the role and work alongside an experienced Debt Centre Manager and Debt Coaches. New skills. You'll build skills in listening, safeguarding, keeping good boundaries and supporting people through hard times. These are useful in work, church and everyday life. Enhanced DBS check. This is required for the role and useful for other volunteering too. Belong to a team. You'll join a network of volunteers from churches right across the borough. Flexible hours. You give the time you can, around your other commitments.

This role requires you to be a practising Christian and an active member of a local church. We welcome applications from Christians aged 18 and over from across Bromley. We'd especially love to hear from people of working age who could bring fresh perspectives and help our team reflect the community we serve.
