What you will be doing

Our Hospital Aftercare Service supports people over 50+ living in Bromley who were recently discharged. Helping to provide clients with shopping support after their stay in hospital by once a week for up to six weeks. Email with weekly updates to the coordinator after each visit keeping her updated about any concerns. Be able to draw on your own emotional resilience and bear mind that service is for a short period only.
Attend support groups and training relevant to being a volunteer.

Skills Description

Able to make a time commitment helping an older person with short term shopping or befriending - Being adaptable and flexible - Excellent communication skills - Good sense of judgement in completing practical tasks.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
