(1) Online volunteer mentors will have the opportunity to provide support and guidance throughout the 12-week term.
(2) You will receive induction & training, as well as regular support & supervision and a volunteer handbook.
(3) We will need to conduct reference checks and you will need an Enhanced DBS for this role as you will be working directly with children. We can process this for you or you may submit one if this is less than 2 years old.

(1) Mentors will get involved with online workshops or be part of a panel of speakers during our live online webinars. (2) Mentors will need to be able to work collaboratively with other tutors and mentors. (3) As an online volunteer mentor, you'll also need to provide feedback to parents at the start and end of the term. (4) Online volunteer mentors will also need to keep a record of their mentoring sessions by filling out a mentor log.

(1) Online volunteer mentors will help scholars understand more about their personal strengths, interests and goals. (2) Online volunteer mentors will also provide support and guidance and help young people reflect on the routes that they might take and any changes or support they will need to achieve their aspirations in life. (3) Online volunteer mentors will need to identify areas of weakness to help the student to build confidence and teach life skills that will boost their morale. (4) With the GT Scholars programme, you will be a part of a team that tackles educational inequality by giving ambitious young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, the strategies, skills and support they need to achieve their academic and career ambitions. (5) Gain interesting and new perspectives by working with young people from diverse backgrounds. (6) Receive training and support and be part of a community of like-minded volunteers.

(1) Volunteer mentors will need to be able to commit to a period of 9 months (one academic year). (2) Be able to provide a total of 6 hours of support over a period of 12 weeks supporting students in their learning and developmental journey, providing support and guidance. (3) The online mentoring sessions can be arranged to fit into your schedule and are arranged directly with your mentee's parent or carer. Mentoring sessions can be done over a live video feed via applications like FaceTime, Google Hangouts or Skype.
