Event Supporters play a key role in helping Rising Ohana’s CIC deliver warm, welcoming, and well-organised community workshops for parents, young mums, babies, and families. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys supporting others, creating a friendly atmosphere, and being hands-on during community events.
Main Duties:
Assisting with event set-up and tidy-up (tables, chairs, resources, activity stations, refreshments).
Welcoming families as they arrive and helping them feel comfortable.
Helping parents sign in and complete feedback forms.
Supporting the smooth running of activities during the workshop.
Providing light support to mums with babies or young children, if needed (e.g., holding a baby for a moment, helping a toddler settle, guiding parents to sensory activities).
Offering general assistance to facilitators throughout the session.
Creating a warm, safe, and inclusive environment for all families.
What You’ll Gain:
Experience supporting vulnerable and neurodivergent families.
Practical skills in community engagement and event delivery.
Confidence working with young children and parents.
The chance to make a positive difference in a family-friendly, supportive setting.

Good teamwork skills – able to work well with staff, other volunteers, and families in a calm, supportive way. Empathy & patience – understanding that families may have complex needs or be neurodivergent. Reliability & professionalism – turning up on time and maintaining a positive, respectful approach.

Volunteering with Rising Ohana’s CIC gives you the chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable and neurodivergent young mums, first-time parents, and families who genuinely need support. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with individuals who have complex needs, while developing practical skills and confidence in community work, early-help support, and family engagement. This role also gives you a unique insight into how neurodivergence shapes parenting — from communication to routines to emotional regulation — and how this can differ from the typical first-time parent experience. You’ll be part of a warm, supportive team, helping create safe, inclusive workshop spaces where families feel understood, connected, and empowered. It’s meaningful work that builds compassion, experience, and community all at the same time.
