The Resource Centre is CVA’s head office. It is a busy building in which several charitable organisations have office space and staff teams work from. Many organisations hire the Resource Centre for community meetings and training sessions. It is a lively, popular centre with many members of the public accessing services at the Centre.
Volunteers will help in staffing the Reception space and supporting users of the Centre. This will include supporting office users, hirers and dealing with general enquiries from members of the public. It is a front-facing role for someone who enjoys interacting with people.

The role also involves back-office admin support to support the efficient running of the Centre and managing bookings. At quiet times, the volunteer will be working on the flagship ‘Simply Connect’ database.

Administration

Requirements · Pleasant telephone manner · Confident in speaking with people · Competent in the use of a computer. · Positive attitude · Ability to work as part of a small team. · Willingness to learn and be proactive · Committed to working in accordance with the Croydon Voluntary Action’s Policies and procedures. Main activities will be: · Helping in reception with customer enquiries · Answering the telephone and responding to voice mails · Supporting in the smooth running of activities and events booked at the Resource Centre · Updating CVA’s ‘Simply Connect’ database · Supporting in promoting CVA’s services, including volunteering opportunities Other tasks could include · Research · Producing marketing materials · Financial analysis and reporting · Health and Safety support · Volunteering at CVA’s other offices

Ongoing Training and a reference after completion of 100hrs.

Typically two mornings per week. Minimum 6 hours per week. Actual timing can be mutually agreed
