What you will be doing

Our shops welcome volunteers of all ages from 14 upwards. If you would like to find out more about how volunteering in a shop might suit you, please pop into your local shop and have a chat with the manager. They will be able to talk you through what is involved, talk about the time you have to offer, and arrange a taster session to see if you like it.

Skills Description

We are looking for volunteers, aged from 14 upwards, who are able to work as part of a fun loving, busy team. Able to follow instructions, are physically fit (volunteers will be standing a lot of the time), are personable and polite, organised and reliable and willing to learn e.g. to use the till or steamer.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
