To support the wonderful work we do in providing families in crisis with a positive experience and creating lasting positive change, we need a team of dedicated volunteers.

Are you friendly, patient and have non- judegmental approach? If you answered yes, we need you!

Our Family Support volunteers work alongside families facing crisis, whilst they visit Longmead Community Farm. Volunteers work in a team to help families, rekindle relationships and restore their sense of value both individually and as a family, which helps build hope for a positive future.

Volunteers do not tell families what to do, instead we hope to inspire families to make positive change by role modelling positive experiences. Longmead is all about having fun, whilst getting the job done. If you enjoy being around children and being outdoors, you are sure to find this volunteer experience very rewarding.

As part of volunteering with us, you will receive rewarding experiences, meals (over the meal times you are at Longmead), travel expenses associated with volunteering at Longmead, training opportunities and support from an experienced children and families’ worker.

To find out more about the role please visit https://www.longmead.org/vacancy/

All successful applicants will be subject to reference checks and a DBS check as part of our safe recruitment policy. We accept volunteers over the age of 18, who have the right skills and motivations to join the Longmead Community Farm team.

Longmead is halfway between Winterborne Whitechurch and Milborne St Andrew on the A354, which is the road that links Blandford and Dorchester. If you are coming from the Dorchester side, drive to Milborne St Andrew, then go straight through the village and continue for just over a mile, until you come to a big dip in the road and will see a sign for a right turn (at the bottom of the hill next to a bus stop). If you are coming from the Blandford side, then go one mile+ beyond Winterborne Whitechurch and look for a left turn (the previous farm is Field Barn). There are small signs for Longmead low down each side of the entrance. Once you have turned right (from Milborne direction), then ‘dogleg’ (left then right) down the lane for 400metres. We are the big house at the bottom (where there is a grass car park). If you want to look around outside, it is best to bring wellies or boots. If you want to GoogleMap us, then the postcode is DT11 0HU.
