Becoming an adviser with Citizens Advice involves making a big commitment to training for the initial three months and then a regular commitment to advising clients and continuing training. The role of an adviser is challenging and rewarding. You would need to able to commit to 2 days per week for the initial training period with additional study carried out at home and then 1 day a week. You would initially work in Wareham but after gaining experience may work at one of our outreaches. We provide free information and advice to everyone in the community and this can be face to face at one of our offices, over the telephone or via email. You would work as part of a friendly and welcoming group of volunteers and staff with opportunities to get involved in social activities. Basic IT skills - internet & email,Reading & Writing,Research

You would need to be comfortable and competent using a computer, particularly the internet, although training will be given on all systems used. You need to be non-judgemental and treat all people equally, be able to listen and record information as well as do thorough research and explain information. You will need to understand our confidentiality policy and act accordingly. A desire to help people to help themselves and to learn new skills is essential.

Volunteer as part of a friendly team and meet new people. Make a difference in the community - be it seeing someone's income increase, debts reduce, or move out of emergency accommodation. Opportunity to undertake free training. Opportunity for taking on more responsibility and for paid work in future if desired. Travel expenses paid.
