The Royal Voluntary Service is looking for volunteers to deliver the Home Library Service to people in the community who cannot easily get to the library. All volunteers join the RVS and complete a DBS clearance; mileage expenses are paid at 45p per mile. Volunteers go out every 3 weeks, choosing and collecting books at their local library, and delivering them to people in the community. This is as much about the regular visit by a trusted volunteer as it is about the delivery of books and talking books, and a much appreciated social contact for the people visited. Rounds take on average 2 to 3 hours.
