SafeWise Weymouth is a life skills centre, with fire safety scenarios and an outdoor road network, combined with a thriving community centre with rooms for meetings, community activities and a cafe. We are currently looking for the right person to joint our friendly volunteer team and support our work on a Wednesday evening.

Volunteer Role Description
The Safety Centre General Assistant volunteer role is very varied but it always involves interaction with staff and the public. Volunteers provide customer service support by staffing reception, welcoming visitors and ensuring they know where to go, and processing telephone enquiries. They provide valuable administrative support, such as sending out booking forms, photocopying or taking payments; they also help with housekeeping tasks, such as looking after notice boards, doing inventories and checking facilities.

Some General Assistants will help with the setting up of rooms and equipment and ensuring that activities run smoothly. In some instances they have responsibility for opening up or closing the centre. We aim to have two General Assistant volunteers on duty at a time, so that they can support each other with tasks.

When and Where:

Presently, General Assistant volunteers are only needed at our Weymouth centre.
Opening hours at Weymouth Centre are 8.30am - 9pm.
Therefore we have Morning, Afternoon and Evening shifts for volunteers. Ideally volunteers would be available for a regular shift each week, however there is flexibility.
Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of two shifts a month, however many enjoy it so much that they volunteer regularly once or twice a week!
