The charity provides a weekly 'talking newspaper' for people who are blind or partially-sighted. The role of Treasurer encompasses the duties below:

 Responsible for all financial aspects of our charity and ensuring the reserves are adequate for its needs

 Responsible for all bank dealings concerning our ‘Business’ and ‘Savings’ accounts

 Routine book-keeping with thorough records and reporting current financial position to fellow trustees. Some information is shared with the Charity Commission on an annual basis

 Attending committee meetings (approximately every 8 weeks) at the SWDTN studio in Weymouth

The main aspects of this role will be carried out at the volunteer's home address

Access to home computing facilities would be useful, but not imperative

 It is important that the volunteer will have an accountancy/financial/business background and be familiar with the use of spreadsheets for recording and reporting purposes  It is important that the volunteer will have good general IT skills, including the use of the internet for research and/or communication purposes  The volunteer may be asked to assist in some aspects of fundraising, especially when this involves applications for funding from local authorities
