What you will be doing

Supporting our small, friendly alternative provision school, your placement will be based in the classroom, where you will help the teacher support teenagers with delayed reading, writing or maths skills, including young people with undiagnosed special needs.

Skills Description

You will be a friendly and calm person who has an interest in youth issues and in helping others.

What is in it for you

We can offer childcare-friendly hours and support to get valuable work experience in a busy setting. We are a small team and volunteers are fully supervised and an important part of our team.

Time Commitment

We can offer 1 day week up to 5 days a week, term time, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9.30am and 2.30pm. We can be flexible to you and offer hours to work around your schedule.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
