Day Programme (Class Mentor) volunteers support young people to develop their financial and enterprise skills within our one-day school-based programmes. Volunteers help to facilitate a group of young people across varied age groups to undertake pre-designed tasks and share their own experiences to help bring the activities to life.

The key activities of the role include:

* Supporting the delivery of a pre-designed workshop with a group of young people

* Attending short briefing and feedback sessions

* Being a supportive and encouraging role model

Class Mentors are primarily based in person within the school context, volunteering closely within small groups that may include teaching staff, Young Enterprise employees and other volunteers. Most programmes run for one day, and volunteers can sign up to support as many or as few day programmes as they would like.

A great Class Mentor is someone who’s enthusiastic and ready to actively support a group of young people, bringing patience, encouragement, and an open mind to the role. While no prior experience is required, mentors should feel comfortable working with young people and be able to communicate with them in an appropriate and engaging way. Basic IT skills are also useful for navigating workshop materials and supporting digital tasks.

Volunteering with Young Enterprise offers a range of benefits, including developing valuable skills, boosting career prospects, and making a positive impact on young people's lives. You'll gain practical experience in areas like leadership, communication, and problem-solving, while also contributing to the development of future entrepreneurs and employees.
