Turner’s House, Sandycombe Lodge, was built by 1813 to the designs of England’s great landscape painter, J.M.W. Turner, working here as his own architect to create a quiet retreat for himself, away from the pressures of the London art world. Open to the public, Turner’s House is committed to extending access to the house and engaging people with both the heritage of the site and the wider story of Turner and his relationship to the local area, which influenced many of his paintings, through a high quality programme of learning and participation for people of all ages.

• Provide high quality, informative and accessible engagement for both primary and secondary school pupils
• To advance the education of arts in schools through engagement with Sandycombe Lodge
• To provide high quality, friendly and accessible engagement to families with children of all ages

• Assist in the delivery of school workshops
• Assist in the set-up and clearing-up for school workshops
• Assist in the delivery of activities on family weekends

• Induction day
• Full training on all aspects on the role
• Regular volunteer meetings
• Regular update on organisation activities
• Advice and guidance from activities and interpretation officer
• Opportunities for further mentoring and training
