1. To assist the detained person to ensure they understand what is happening during the interview.
2. Ensure the interview is carried out fairly and respectfully.
3. To help communication between the detainee, police and others.
4. To be part of a rota to attend the police station when called as required.
Hounslow Youth Offending Service require volunteers to be able to attend
the Police Station when called if an Appropriate Adult is needed. The police station is located in Montague Road, Hounslow
Hounslow Police Station is near the Treaty Centre in Hounslow high street. It is approximately 5-10 minute walk from Hounslow Central tube station.

Are you over 21 confident and assertive?
Are you willing to be a support to young people (aged 10-17) or vulnerable adults during their interview at the Police Station if they have been arrested?
If you are interested in helping young people in trouble and / or have an interest in youth justice work, this is an ideal opportunity to gain some first-hand experience of the work and training.
You will need to be able to travel to Hounslow police station.
Volunteers with an interest in youth justice are being offered the chance to gain valuable first-hand experience which has helped some pursue a career in this field later on.
Training and expenses are provided and a commitment of one year is requested, after which the YOS would be happy to provide a reference to support the work that you have done if needed.
