This volunteer role will be based within the Visitor Experience Team in Gunnersbury Parks newly refurbished local history museum. Gunnersbury Park Museum is housed in a beautiful Regency mansion and serves the local boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow. Museum Volunteers are vital to ensuring that our visitors enjoy the Museum and its collections by adding a personal and relatable presence to every visit. These volunteers are eager to learn and will become well versed in our fascinating local history and enjoy enthusiastically sharing this information with our diverse range of visitors.
Full training will be provided for all volunteers so all applications are encouraged. Only requirement for this post is that volunteers are eager to enthusiastically talk with a diverse range of visitors. Applicants must be able to commit to one shift a week (as much as is possible!) and to give us as much notice as possible if they want to change or are unable to attend a shift.
Please note that this role is voluntary and therefore unpaid, however Gunnersbury Park Museum is happy to be able to offer travel reimbursement up to a value of £8 upon proof of purchase, for each volunteer shift attended.

We’re looking for people who enjoy being with, and can communicate well with, a wide variety of people. Reliability and good timekeeping are essential qualities, along with enthusiasm, a positive attitude and a strong interest in helping others to engage with heritage and history. This is a great role for someone who loves sharing their stories, spending time chatting with people who share their interests and learning new things.
This is a great role for someone looking to find out more about jobs in the tourism, museum and heritage sector. As a general introduction into how heritage venues are run and managed on a day to day basis, this role will help applicants decide what career path they wish to follow and then to gain valuable skills to get them started on that path. It's also a useful role for someone looking to improve their confidence speaking to the public, customer service skills, English speaking level and to engage with local history and community groups.
