No Panic Helpline Volunteer

No Panic

You did not enter a postcode in the search, or the postcode for this role is unknown.

No Panic is a national charity at the frontline of accessible help for anxiety sufferers.
The No Panic Helpline is open 365 days a year between 10am and 10pm.
Those who call us can be struggling across a range of anxiety disorders: OCD; Panic Attacks; Phobias or General Anxiety Disorder.
We train our helpline volunteers to provide sufferers with all the information they need to begin the process of self-help recovery.
This is a remote volunteering opportunity where everything is done from home, including training, and there is never a need to attend elsewhere. This makes it the ideal opportunity for those with mobility or fitness issues.
Our volunteers work a 3-hour shift once a week.
Initial training is one evening a week for 8 weeks (for a small charge of £25 to cover costs), with backup support for the first 8 weeks on the helpline. There is continued support via bimonthly support groups.

Advice, Information & Support

Basic IT skills - internet & email

An ideal Helpliner has an interest in anxiety disorders and the following skills: • Ability to provide empathetic listening; • Ability to pass on information on self-help techniques; • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

If you have suffered from anxiety yourself and want to give something back, working on our helpline can be very fulfilling, it also has the advantage of being able to do it from your own home. It can also be of great benefit if you are a psychology student or counsellor - after one year, we will provide you with certification setting out the training you have been given and the service you have provided. If you are already working in the field of mental health, this may increase and widen your experience and knowledge. Our volunteers can go on to be trained to become mentors helping those with the most difficult of conditions.

Our volunteers do one 3-hour shift per week. Training is 1 ½ hours, one night a week for 8 weeks. Support groups are 1 hour monthly/bi-monthly.
