Larkrise Cohousing Ltd is a community-led, not-for-profit company limited by guarantee,
guided by its Board of Directors and supported by an active membership. Its aim is to
create an inclusive, sustainable cohousing community in Herefordshire that offers
genuinely affordable rural homes and a model for addressing the county’s housing
challenges. The Treasurer supports Larkrise Cohousing Ltd by managing the
organisation’s day-to-day finances and ensuring the community remains financially
healthy. Key tasks include maintaining accurate income and expenditure records,
monitoring the bank account, managing payments and invoices, and preparing clear
financial updates for the Board and members. The Treasurer coordinates the annual
budgeting process, helps the group understand the financial implications of projects or
decisions, and ensures statutory requirements—such as annual accounts and
returns—are submitted on time. The role may involve liaising with external accountants
or advisors when needed.

This is a chance to play a key role in a ground-breaking cohousing project in Herefordshire. As Treasurer, you’ll help shape an innovative, community-led response to the county’s rural housing crisis and contribute to a model that could influence housing solutions across the region. You’ll gain hands-on experience in cooperative governance, community finance, and sustainable development. You’ll also be part of a supportive, values-driven group, build new skills, make meaningful connections, and see your contribution directly improve living options for local people.

Around 4–6 hours per month, including occasional meetings and extra time at year-end or during budget planning. The role is flexible and can be managed alongside other commitments.

Most meetings can be attended online, and we can offer materials in alternative formats on request. Our current meeting space has stepped access, so please let us know your requirements in advance and we will arrange an accessible venue or remote participation to ensure you can be fully included.
