We are looking for people who will provide support for hvoss’ Little Ukrainians Club in Ross-on-Wye. We would love to invite people from Ukraine, or Ukrainian speakers, or anyone interested in learning more about Ukrainian language and culture!
The club is for children aged 4–12 from Ukraine who are in Herefordshire having fled the war at home. Meeting other children who have shared a similar experience provides them with invaluable peer support and the club encourages them to remember and celebrate their culture and language through crafts, games, music, fun and friendship.
The sessions are planned to take place weekly (excluding school holidays) on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Baptist Church in Ross-on-Wye town centre and Tuesdays from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at hvoss in Hereford.
Volunteers will support the club by:
• Helping to welcome and settle children at the start of each session
• Supporting children’s safety during activities (for example, when using scissors or during active games)
• Assisting with setting up and clearing away tables and chairs before and after sessions
• Helping with general tidying, including managing rubbish
This support will help ensure that the sessions run smoothly and that children feel safe, supported, and included.
Volunteers will need a satisfactory DBS check, which hvoss will help with application.
