Help us inspire young people by talking about your career, from home!
We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life, backgrounds and stages in their career to speak to young people about their career journey, aspirations, challenges and successes at a high profile event.
If you have an inspirational story or an interesting career then apply now to become a volunteer. At last year’s event, one young man, Joel Agyeman from Cardinal Pole School said: “I enjoyed the talks at the beginning, I liked how they talked about their background, like when they were our age. It has made me think about the decisions that I make today and will make soon. I feel really inspired for my future now.”
The event will see a young audience from schools across the borough listen to speeches and then take part in discussion groups to talk informally with all of the inspirational volunteers involved.
This is an unprecedented time of stress and anxiety for young people in our borough who would benefit greatly from the reassuring advice of real volunteers from the world of work.
This event takes place on March 12th from 1-3pm and involves an online careers Q&A.
Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, Deputy Mayor of Hackney said of last year's event: “This event is a great way to inspire young people. It not only provides a chance for them to learn about a wide variety of careers ranging from social care to the arts and culture, but also gives them the opportunity to network directly with professionals."
