Inclusive Theatre Workshop Assistant

Hackney Shed is an inclusive theatre group for children and young people. We run theatre workshops in Hackney for participants both with and without special needs or disabilities. The focus of our work is around including everyone, working together and creating great theatre! We are looking for workshop assistants to support our workshops and sessions which are led by a team of professionals.

There is currently ad-hoc availability for the volunteering role and the new recruitment programme will begin in September.

We are looking for volunteers who have experience in or who are interested in working with children and young people in a creative setting. An interest in theatre or other performing arts is useful. People with experience in or an interest in supporting and working with children and young people with special needs is also useful. In addition people with other creative skills such as design, set/ costume production or photography, film making

This is a great opportunity for volunteers who want to gain experience in working with children and young people in inclusive settings. Our team of experienced facilitators lead the sessions and offer training opportunities for volunteers related to working inclusively and delivering theatre workshops. Volunteers are given the opportunity to feedback and input into our work.

There is currently ad-hoc availability for the volunteering role and the new recruitment programme will begin in September. Prior to starting, volunteers will be attending a Safeguarding training session. Commitment is 3 hours per week during term time. Children and Youth Theatre sessions are on Tuesdays during term time at 5:45pm-8:45pm Hackney Shed Collective Session are on Wednesdays from 5:45pm-8:15pm

Nearest Overground Train (from Liverpool Street): Clapton (3 mins walk from venue) Buses: Clapton Pond: 38,48, 55, 56, 106, 253, 254, 393, 816, N38, N55, N106 Parking: There is some street parking on Kenninghall Road, the college has a car park that can be accessed via Brooke Road. It is gated and is accessed via an intercom to the reception desk and you need to come through both gates and park next to the college building
