Hackney Council for Voluntary Services

This year marks Hackney CVS 20th year anniversary. HCVS have been awarded a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to run a number of activities celebrating Hackney’s rich heritage and the history of vibrant community action in the borough over the last 20 years. Alongside films, interviews, case studies and awards events, the team are keen to interview some of the key players in Hackney’s community to hear and share their stories.
Alongside the CEO, Jake Ferguson, you’ll identify key people and organisations who may be able to share about their experience of working in Hackney. You’ll then undertake face to face, Skype/Facetime or telephone interviews to capture the organisational memories of the people and groups that have shaped Hackney’s vibrant community, voluntary and third sector, before translating these interviews into engaging content – whether that’s a written article to feature on our website, an interview blog, infographic or video/audio material – thinking about what might tell the story best to our range of audiences.
This is a great role to utilise research skills, communication skills and writing experience, and is ideal for someone with a background in research, writing or press, marketing and communications or who is passionate about social action, history and communities.
This role is flexible and could be undertaken at home, outside work hours (evening and weekends) if the volunteer has the relevant equipment (laptop/PC and voice recorder) or at HCVS’s offices at The Adiaha Antigha Centre, 24-30 Dalston Lane, Hackney.
