ReachOut

ReachOut are looking for volunteers across London who want to give two hours a week over the course of an academic year to mentor a young person in need of a positive role model.

You will be involved in one of our weekly after-school ReachOut Projects, working with either primary or secondary school students. Our sessions are fun and engaging, involving both group activities and one-to-one discussions. As a mentor you will be paired with a young person, who you will work with each week over the course of the school year, helping them to develop their character, exceed their goals and grow in confidence.

All of our projects start during the Autumn, each running for different lengths of time so that you can pick the type of project that best suits you! We run sessions from Monday through to Thursday across a range of locations within London. You can pick a project which runs in the afternoons or the evenings, so you will be sure to find something that fits in with your schedule. We do ask that you commit to the full duration of the project as this allows for the best mentee-mentor relationships to form and creates the strongest impact for our young people.

We are currently looking for volunteers for the 2024/25 academic year! If this sounds like something you are interested in, please sign up on our website and we will be in touch with you over the summer about attending your mentor training session, all ready for you to start in the Autumn.

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers who want to support young people in their development! No skills or prior experience is needed but you must be able to commit to attending a ReachOut session once a week during term-time! Before you begin volunteering with us we will ask you to attend an online training session, complete a DBS (that we organise) and submit references. Throughout your time volunteering you will also receive ongoing support. Each session is led by an experienced Project Leader who is always on hand to offer support and answer your queries.

Whether or not you've worked with young people before we would love to have you come and mentor with us. You will have the opportunity to develop a whole range of skills from communication and team work to leadership and problem solving. You will also be able to meet new people, make new friends and spend two hours a week having fun and knowing you're making a difference!

2 hours per week during term time across the academic year! We do ask that your commit for the duration of your project!

Further location details may be provided below.

The project runs in various schools in Hackney and across London, each on a different day of the week. We will do our best to match you with a school nearby and make sure the timings work with your availability! The majority of our projects are running in-person, however we do have a few online projects if you would prefer to volunteer online.
