Join our team of health & wellbeing Volunteer Researchers!

Do you have ideas for how Hackney and the City’s communities could be healthier and happier? Do you think people like you should have a say in what issues should be included as priorities? Would you be up for talking to your friends, family, people in your community, about this too?

Our local authorities are leading on a strategy for health and wellbeing in our areas. We are working to make sure real people, representing all of Hackney and City’s diversity, get a real say in what goes in it.

The project will run for three months and there are two ways to get involved.

Become a ‘volunteer researcher’. You would engage with your friends and family, plus people in your wider community, asking them questions about health and wellbeing where they live. You would do this through asking people to fill in a survey, 1 on 1 interviews and maybe even hosting a group discussion or doing a stall at a community event.
This would involve: Getting trained in how to do this and receiving ongoing support from our staff and the other volunteers, engaging with friends and family and people in your wider community.
Benefits: a £50 voucher to recognise your valuable input; the chance to play a big role in shaping Hackney and City’s health & wellbeing strategy; experience which can go on your CV.

Join the ‘steering group’. You would be playing the role of ‘volunteer researcher’ and have a bigger say in how this project happens. How should we promote the project to reach all of Hackney and City’s diverse communities? What kind of training will people need so they can do a great job gathering people’s views?
This would involve: up to four meetings where you have the chance to shape the project plus occasional phone calls/ emails with our staff.
Benefits: a voucher to recognise your valuable input; the chance to play a big role in shaping Hackney and City’s health & wellbeing strategy; experience which can go on your CV.

We estimate the time commitment to be approximately 10 hours per month for the standard role and 14 hours per month for the Steering Group role for the three month duration of the project.
