Intergenerational Workshop Volunteer

Our intergenerational workshops connect school children and young people with older people in retirement homes. We’re looking for volunteers to support the smooth running of these workshops.

Our workshops usually take place on weekday lunchtimes and last for around two hours. All of our workshops are led by trained facilitators.

Volunteers support workshops by:
- Assisting with on-the-day workshop preparation and clearing up
- Getting involved with the workshop activities (joining in games, assisting the facilitator, helping pupils with reading and writing etc.)
- Supporting older participants with additional needs (e.g. hearing difficulties, mobility issues, memory loss etc.)

Befriending, Buddying & Mentoring,Community Work,General and Helping

Managing People

In particular, we’re looking for volunteers who are: - Friendly and energetic - Comfortable interacting with people of different ages - Reliable - Respectful of different needs and access requirements

As a volunteer with InCommon, you’ll get to be part of an intergenerational movement bridging generational divides. We also provide travel expenses and a professional reference for onward work.

We ask that volunteers can commit to at least 6 months, ideally volunteering at a rate of once or twice a month.
