Volunteer Centre Hackney are looking for more trustees to join our board. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a valuable contribution to a local charity, whilst sharing your knowledge and developing new skills.

What is a trustee?:
Trustees are volunteers who, together with other trustees, sit on a charity’s board and work with the Chief Executive. The trustees are ultimately responsible for managing the charity and making sure that it is well run and operates according to its obligations and the law. We will make sure that you are properly trained and fully understand the legal responsibilities and what is expected of you.

What will I have to do?
You will need to attend board meetings every eight weeks. Meetings typically last 2 hours and take place in the early evening at our office in Dalston. You will be sent information about the topics that will be discussed in advance so that you can read and prepare. In addition there may be other occasions when your input and help is needed. You will also be expected to support VCH from time to time e.g: by attending events and acting as an ambassador for the charity.

Who can be a trustee?:
If you are aged 18 or over, can commit to giving your time, and are enthusiastic about VCH’s work we would love to hear from you.

You do not need any particular qualifications or previous experience. We want our Trustees to have a good mix of skills and experience to help us deliver our services as widely and effectively as possible. These could be skills and experience from your own life, work, study or volunteering. We will provide training and support to help you understand the role and build your skills and experience.
