Saturday 4th July – General volunteer for Community Dining & Social Club

Love dabbling in the kitchen, hosting, or connecting? This is an open call for Volunteers interested in either light kitchen support (chopping, mixing or washing up), or hosting/serving for a pop-up Community Dining & Social Club organised every two months, combining Food, Music and Creative Arts for the vital enhancement of Mental Health and social belonging for Community, by Community.

MY DINNER WITH is an open mic platform for independent creative artists, poets, musicians, chefs, photographers, performers and writers. We’re bringing people together through community dining and the creative arts. To stop loneliness, to support emotional wellbeing, to nourish bodies and to strengthen community connections.

We’re looking for volunteers to join our team at our community dining and social clubs. This is an open call for Volunteers interested in either light kitchen support (chopping, mixing or washing up), or hosting/serving for a Community Dining & Social Club organised every two months, combining Food, Music and Creative Arts for the vital enhancement of Mental Health and social belonging for Community, by the Community.

Upcoming Dates/Venues:
Saturday, 4th July at Myddleton Grange Community Hall, 108 Colthurst Crescent, N4 2FD (Near Manor House)
Event Time: 6-9pm
(Volunteers may arrive for 4.30pm or at a pre-agreed time for briefing, induction and to settle in – Volunteers would also be able to join in the dinner event and time for relaxing & socialising)

Other Volunteering Times are also available in 1-hour slots, for example,
for light kitchen prep or helping to decorate the space
3-4pm
4-5pm

Key Tasks & Skills - Although there are no specific skills and qualifications for the role it would help if:
• You enjoy working with people.
• Have good communication skills.
• Comfortable in public spaces, speaking and engaging with people.
• Cooking experience is not essential albeit a willingness to collaborate, learn, work with others would be encouraged.
• Working within a small team where Collaboration, Consideration and Teamwork are essential ingredients for a successful service.
• Being able to work within a non-hierarchical team structure with a positive attitude, good vibes.

A DBS check is not necessary for this role however there may be occasions or events where there is a need to DBS check a volunteer for a specific task.

• Free Dinner and time for socialising and relaxing during the events.
• Keep you safe with our Health and Safety Guidance.
• Cover all volunteers with appropriate insurance.
• Support whilst you volunteer.

• Reward and recognise the amazing contribution that all our volunteers make to My Dinner With.
• Written References for Volunteers who have participated in two events.
• Support in further training if Volunteers would like to continue participating in future events as a Volunteer Cook, for example, we will cover the cost of training for a Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate for volunteers interested in going beyond light kitchen prep and into food cooking.
