The Buckingham Canal Society was founded in 1992 to promote the restoration of the disused Buckingham Canal. The Society is led by a group of 8 Trustees and holds committee meetings 6 times a year. They hold a canal festival and craft fair each year in Cosgrove. They run 3 practical task work parties a month and attend fetes and fairs to promote the society.
They are currently looking for a Committee Minutes Secretary to attend committee meetings 6 times a year and work with the Trustees of their societies. If you have previous experience of taking minutes and an interest in canal and boating this would be useful but training will be given. This is a chance to get involved with a group who are moving fast, having re-watered 400 metres of canal near Buckingham and looking to restore and re-water another section shortly.
The volunteer can also help at their canal festival and craft fair each year and also join them for an annual boat trip each year.; If you have previous experience of taking minutes and an interest in canal and boating this would be useful but training will be given.
