The Reception team provides the first and last point of contact at the Hospice for visitors/clients, health care professionals and other agencies, both face to face and on the telephone. Receptionist is a key volunteering role in ensuring that all our visitors receive a warm welcome and positive experience at the Hospice.

We’re looking for Reception Volunteer who can provide a friendly, empathetic and efficient Front of House reception service by welcoming and directing our visitors, being mindful of the needs of distressed relatives, answering phone calls and pro-actively responding to the wide range of enquiries and questions asked at Reception.

You’ll be comfortable with using a small switchboard to answer and direct external calls to relevant staff/teams within the Hospice, have excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills, be computer literate, discrete and tactful when dealing with sensitive situations. Full training and support are provided to support you with your voluntary journey at Princess Alice Hospice.

We're looking for volunteer to cover regular 4pm-6pm shift on Fridays and ad-hoc basis.

• Personable with excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. • Discrete and able to maintain confidentiality at all times. • Organised and able to prioritise and be trusted with sensitive information. • Computer literate - particularly e-mail and to access the electronic staff directory and internal website, Dovenet. • Tact and diplomacy, particularly when dealing with distressed people or sensitive situations. • Flexibility and timeliness. • Enjoy working in a team environment • Happy to undertake lone working (certain shifts) while maintaining a team role within the Front of House services. • Self-motivated • Demonstrable commitment to our values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.

regular 4pm-6pm shift on Fridays or on a floating basis for any weekday 4pm-6pm shift to cover holidays and sickness.
