Ruils are looking for a passionate and engaging individual to join our team as a Volunteer Secondary School Assistant and Workshop Lead.
You will be delivering disability awareness workshops to young people across secondary schools and sixth forms in Richmond and Southwest London.
You will support, and sometimes lead the delivery of interactive and engaging workshops designed to raise awareness and understanding of disability. You will work directly with students, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
The Volunteer will be expected to adhere to the Ruils policies and procedures including health and safety, confidentiality, safeguarding adults and children, equal opportunities and diversity.
Full induction and training will be given to ensure that volunteers feel clear and confident about these policies.
Because of the requirement to go into schools, a DBS will be required.

Admin, Basic IT skills - internet & email, Organising & Planning, People Skills

• Supporting the main facilitator during the workshop settings • Be able and confidant to lead sessions when needed • Helping set up and organise activities and materials • Experience with children and young adults (11-18 yrs) • Provide additional support children and young adults if needed • Comfortable discussing and answering questions about their disability while maintaining appropriate boundaries • Tech experience preferred, but not required. Training will be provided • Be able to lead a workshop when required and follow the curriculum • Experience with teenagers preferred, but not essential

Volunteers will develop skills in communication, teamwork, and group management and IT programs (if wanted) . Volunteers will also deepen their understanding of disability awareness and inclusion, gain confidence in public speaking and leadership.

We ask for a minimum commitment of 2 days month, half day's weekdays and occasional days for training and Workshop planning and review meetings

The role will mean supporting workshops in local schools in Southwest London / Richmond Borough, yet to be determined. There will be training and supervision meetings with the Team's Lead at the Ruils offices in Teddington at: DAAC Building, 4 Waldegrave Road, Teddington, TW11 8HT
