What you will be doing

Horse Rangers Association is a charity which supports the personal development of young people, regardless of background or ability, by teaching them to ride and care for horses. We run a Special Needs programme (and are a member group of the Riding for the Disabled Association). We currently need volunteers to help with these sessions which run during Term Time (Tuesday to Friday) in our Indoor School in Bushy Park. The role involves walking alongside the rider, making sure they are safe and steady and helping them understand commands from the instructors. Equestrian experience is not essential as training will be given. Over time, when you feel comfortable, you can go on to lead the horses, assist with mounting and dismounting etc.

If you are already comfortable around horses there may be opportunities to learn to lead, tack up and generally care for the horses before, during and after the session. There are also opportunities for volunteers to undertake further training towards becoming a registered RDA Instructor. Our sessions are run entirely by volunteers. We are looking for positive, friendly and forward thinking individuals to join us!

Directions

R68, 111, 216 buses all go to The Stockyard. If approaching from Hampton Court Palace side- Bus stop is S Garrick Villa If approaching from Hampton side- Bus stop is St Albans Lodge For drivers- there is a Visitor Car Park- go through the main entrance of The Stockyard, follow the road round to the right go past the White Lodge and you will see the indoor school on the left and a sign for the Visitors Car Park straight ahead.
