Horse Rangers Association is a charity which supports the personal development of young people, regardless of background or ability, by teaching them to ride and care for horses. We run a Special Needs programme (and are a member group of the Riding for the Disabled Association). We currently need volunteers to help with these sessions which run during Term Time (Tuesday to Friday) in our Indoor School in Bushy Park. The role involves walking alongside the rider, making sure they are safe and steady and helping them understand commands from the instructors. Equestrian experience is not essential as training will be given. Over time, when you feel comfortable, you can go on to lead the horses, assist with mounting and dismounting etc.

If you are already comfortable around horses there may be opportunities to learn to lead, tack up and generally care for the horses before, during and after the session. There are also opportunities for volunteers to undertake further training towards becoming a registered RDA Instructor. Our sessions are run entirely by volunteers. We are looking for positive, friendly and forward thinking individuals to join us!

People Skills

People skills are essential for volunteers with us because you will be with many other volunteers, riders, parents and carers. It is imperative that you are sociable, positive and forward thinking.

Helping other people within the community is extremely rewarding work and seeing our riders progress and develop over time is wonderful. Other benefits include meeting other volunteers, networking, learning new skills and being a part of an organisation that really does make a huge difference to those that we support.
