Our reception volunteers are at the heart of our service, you will be the first point of contact for clients accessing the service for advice. You will welcome and greet clients while supporting the day to day running of the office by dealing with general reception and administrative duties.
You will receive a full induction and training and once you support the clients you will be fully supported.

We are seeking volunteers to support with the smooth running of our reception, you will be approachable and welcome clients accessing the service during our opening times including during drop in sessions and when clients attend for pre- booked appointments, you will manage client expectations and notify clients of the approximate waiting times, whilst being knowledgeable about the other services and provisions which may be more a appropriate channel for the client needs. You will maintain the reception area ensuring self help and information leaflets are maintained and replenished, whilst also dealing with telephone, printing, scanning and general reception/admin duties.

Be friendly and approachable with excellent customer service skills Be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own Have good IT and administrative skills Have good written and verbal communication skills Be calm under pressure Be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection Be willing to undertake training in your role

Gain and build on valuable skills and experience such as communication, IT skills and working in a team Increase your employability Contribute to the smooth running of the advice service which makes a real difference to peoples’ lives Work with a range of different people, independently and in a team. And we’ll reimburse expenses too.

To volunteer 2 days a week, on both Wednesday and Thursday 9am-5pm during the training period, Training period is approximately 2-4 weeks. Once you have completed your training, you can reduce your hours to 1 day per week.
