Meet and greet families into the Children’s Centre/Family Hub and provide advice, support, and signposting to the relevant support service to meet their needs. To support the Play and Learn sessions within the Family Hubs and in the community.
Main activities/tasks; To support the facilitation and delivery of Play and Learn activities for families with young children through the Family Hubs. To set up the room before the session and clear away after, alongside the Family support Assistant, ensuring a range of activities are provided to support the children’s learning and development needs. To initiate play and learning activities for parents and children together and to role model good practice for parents in relation to the care of children, this should include promotion of the home learning environment and parents as a child’s first teacher. Ensure health and safety is observed at all times. Support families to sign in and register with the centres and answer questions about the Family Hubs Services, its activities, events, and facilities. Assist with basic inquiries and referring more complex queries to appropriate staff. Communicate with other staff members or teams regarding visitor needs or any issues observed. Distribute vitamins as required. Keep all area’s clean and tidy and ensure health and safety is maintained at all times.

Reliability and commitment to follow through on commitments ensuring tasks are completed. A positive attitude and empathy and compassion. Every day at the Family Hubs can be different and involve unpredictable situations, so being able to adjust to changing circumstances is important. A willingness to work hard and contribute effectively is highly valued. Being able to manage time effectively is important for balancing volunteer work with other commitments. Effective communication is essential for interacting with families, visitors and staff. Volunteering often involves working in a team, so the ability to collaborate and cooperate is important. Treating everyone with respect and demonstrating integrity builds trust and positive relationships. Being a good listener to understand the needs of families and respond appropriately. Patience is often needed when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds or when facing challenging situations.
