Early years volunteers need to be able to communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues. This includes both verbal and non-verbal communication, as well as the ability to adapt their communication style to different individuals and situations. Understanding the needs of each child is crucial. Working with young children requires a great deal of patience. Volunteers need to be able to remain calm and composed, even when faced with challenging behaviours or situations. A caring and empathetic nature is essential for building positive relationships with children and creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Volunteers who are enthusiastic and passionate about working with young children are more likely to create a positive and engaging learning experience for them. Volunteers should respect the individual needs and cultural backgrounds of all children and ensure that all children have equal access to learning opportunities.

Support from the Early Years Manager, Family Hub Co-ordinator and the wider team. A range of opportunities to gain new skills and work experience. Make new friends and meet new people. Better physical and mental wellbeing. The chance to give something back and improve your confidence while connecting with your community.
