For over three decades, Crossroads Care Slough has supported unpaid carers, older people, disabled adults, children and families across Slough and the surrounding area.

We understand that caring for someone can be enormously rewarding, but it can also bring significant practical, emotional and financial pressures. Our work is about ensuring that carers and the people they support have access to compassionate, reliable support that helps them maintain their independence, wellbeing and connection to their community.

We are now looking for thoughtful, committed people to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the next chapter of Crossroads Care Slough.

We want to strengthen our Board with a good mix of professional expertise, practical experience and lived experience.

We would particularly welcome people with knowledge or experience in health and social care, safeguarding, finance, HR, business, governance, law, fundraising, commissioning, marketing or the voluntary and community sector.

However, professional qualifications are not the only expertise we value.

If you are, or have been, an unpaid carer, have supported a family member, have worked directly with people who draw on care and support, or have other relevant lived experience, we would very much like to hear from you.

You do not need previous trustee or Board experience. What matters is that you can bring your knowledge and perspective to the table, listen to others, ask thoughtful questions and contribute constructively to decisions about the future of the charity.

As a Trustee, you will work alongside fellow Board members and our Chief Executive to help set the strategic direction of the charity, provide appropriate oversight and constructive challenge, ensure our resources are used responsibly, consider opportunities and risks, and help ensure Crossroads Care Slough remains strong and sustainable for the future.

Trustees are not responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation. We need people who can look at the bigger picture, ask the right questions and help us make sound decisions.

We are particularly interested in people who are prepared to contribute rather than simply attend meetings — people who will share their knowledge, offer ideas, respectfully challenge when necessary and work collaboratively with others.

Above all, we want Trustees who understand why organisations like Crossroads Care Slough matter and who genuinely care about the people and families we support.

Becoming a Trustee is an opportunity to use your skills, knowledge or lived experience for a purpose that has a direct impact within your local community. It is also an opportunity to develop your own experience of charity governance and contribute to the future of an established local organisation.

This is a voluntary role, but it is an important one.

If you think you could bring something valuable to our Board, we would love to hear from you. Tell us a little about yourself, why Crossroads Care Slough interests you and what experience, skills or perspective you could bring.

Come and help us build on more than three decades of supporting carers and families — and help shape what comes next.
