Volunteer - Nature/Outdoor Based Mental Health Community Group

We are looking for volunteers for our friendly community group, Community Calm, which is situated on an animal therapy farm in Maidenhead, The Wildlife Trust in Windsor Great Park and a new site to be launched soon in Slough.
Commitment: 2 hours per week (Monday)
2 hours a month (Tuesday)
2 hours a month (Wednesday)
Reports to: Director, Community Calm

Overview: Community Calm is a not-for-profit service promoting mental and physical well-being through nature-based therapies. Situated on an animal therapy farm, we support adults (18+) experiencing mental health challenges, such as loneliness, depression, and anxiety. We are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers to assist in creating a nurturing and supportive environment for our participants.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage with Participants: Welcome attendees and offer companionship during sessions.
Facilitate Activities: Assist in organising and leading light gardening, gentle farmyard work, relaxation/yoga sessions, board games, arts and crafts.
Support Environment: Help maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring participants feel safe and valued.
Provide Practical Assistance: Offer help with setting up and tidying up activities, and support participants who may need extra guidance.
Maintain Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during all activities, adhering to Community Calm's guidelines and protocols.
Qualifications:

Compassionate Nature: A caring and empathetic approach to supporting individuals facing mental health challenges.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff members.
Reliable and Committed: Consistency in attendance and dedication to the group’s mission.
Interest in Nature and Animals: Enthusiasm for outdoor activities and animal care, with a basic understanding of the therapeutic benefits they offer.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a diverse group of participants.
Experience (Preferred but not required): A background in mental health support, counseling, social work, or related fields is beneficial.
