A unique and rewarding opportunity to directly support patients and families known to Dougie Mac. You will help to make life just a little bit easier for the family.

Our Buddies help in 3 ways:
* Visiting patients' homes to support them and their family
* Transport - helping patients to make essential trips to medical appointments. You may also be asked to help transport equipment, such as wheelchairs (own transport essential).
* Telephone befriender - a listening ear on a regular basis for companionship.

You can be involved in all areas or just one, training and support is given for these roles. We also ask for volunteers who have some previous care experience.

Buddies are an extension of the care our clinical teams provide: a friendly companion to listen to and support, for both the carer and the patients enabling to avoid crisis situations.

Wellbeing Buddy volunteers will be contacted to see who is available to support a patient; it will depend on your own commitments as to when you are paired with a patient and their family.
