Do you like meeting people, could you help someone to break down the red tape of filling in benefit application forms?
Whilst most clients can complete various benefit forms themselves, others may need some extra guidance, and this is where you come in.
We are looking to recruit more Volunteer form filling advisers to support clients. The role is at our offices in the High Street, Sutton and you will need to be able to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week.
Full training will be given by Citizens Advise Sutton.
Main duties and responsibilities include
Helping members of the public to complete forms for welfare benefits and similar entitlements which may take upto 2 or 3 hours depending on the situation or the clients,
Scanning the form filled for filing
photocopying the form, if the client needs a copy of it
photocopying clients medical records and repeat prescription list to include in the Form that is filled
Working as part of a team of volunteers providing a free, confidential, impartial and independent service to the public.

Personal skills and qualities:-
A willingness to undertake initial training and update training with Citizens Advice Sutton (this is mandatory).
A commitment to providing a free, confidential, impartial and non-judgemental service to the public,
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal,
Being open and approachable,
The ability to draw out information needed by asking the right questions to the clients, to write on the form - covered in the training
To be able to work as part of a team,
Ability to use the telephone to make enquiries, if necessary
This role would be ideal for someone looking for a career in Advice and Information, or if you have personal knowledge of the benefit system and would like to support others.
Training will be both in-house and at the Citizens Advice Offices in Wallington.
