The involvement of volunteers is vital to Club sessions for My Time young carers. They provide the support, encouragement and experience that enables members to have fun and respite from the stress of their home lives. Club sessions include sport and games, arts and crafts, music and quizzes, therefore we welcome volunteers with all kinds of interests and skills. The volunteer team members at My Time clubs are involved with programme planning. They set up equipment, organise games and other activities and are supported by a trained sessional Youth Worker and Trustees. The My Time clubs for 7's to 12's meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5.30 to 7.00 and the 12's to 15's meet from 7.30 to 9.00 on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Holiday activities are also arranged and supported by volunteers.

Art & Craft

No specific skills or qualifications are required, but volunteers must be able to empathise with children and young people, be patient and non-judgemental, understand confidentiality and above all have a sense of humour. Some experience of working with children or as a parent/guardian could be useful, but not essential. The input of volunteers with sports, music or arts qualifications would enable My Time sessions to be more varied and of a high standard. This opportunity would be ideal for someone wishing to gain experience before a career in teaching, social work, medicine etc. Students are very welcome as our young carers enjoy the support of younger people.

We welcome D of E participants and students who are planning to have a career in youth work, child care, teaching etc. Being part of a volunteer team at My Time is very rewarding whatever your age. Helping young carers have some fun means that volunteers have some fund too.
