We are looking for volunteers to help out at our group activity sessions held at one of our supported living projects for adults with learning disabilities and / or autism. We need our volunteers to help us target social social found among those with learning disabilities and we would like you to encourage social interaction through activities, outings and conversation. Key Tasks & Activities: - Enable people to build confidence and self-esteem through various activities such as arts and crafts, sports, swimming and music. - Provide and encourage participation in a wide range of social activities, outings and skills-based groups. - Support either an individual or small group to engage more fully with the activities and also with other members of the group. You will be working with members of Centre 404's staff, as well as other volunteers so there will be lots of opportunity to learn. If you haven't worked with people with learning disabilities before, this is a great way to build up your confidence! Example Activity Timetable: - Swimming (Wednesday afternoons and evenings) - You MUST be willing to get into the water!- Bowling (Thursday afternoons).- Arts & Crafts sessions on Thursday mornings or Friday afternoons. - Church Attendant (Sunday mornings). - Wheelchair Ice-Skating (Wednesday mornings) - You MUST be willing to get onto the ice!-'Pedal Power' (Tuesday and Thursday mornings) - Helpful if you can ride a bike however, not essential. Please note, the recruitment of all volunteer placements adhere to Centre 404's equal opportunities policy. All volunteers are required to complete a DBS check as our building acts as a centre for children.

You do not need any prior experience to apply for this role, however it is suited to people who are:
- Calm, patient and positive.
- Have excellent communication skills and are a 'peoples person'.
- Have any skills you can share with the group, for example sports, music art, would be very welcome!
- Be able to adapt to new situations and be willing to try new things.
- Discrete and able to keep certain information confidential.
- Able to adhere to Centre 404's mission statement, values and use a person-centred approach when working with others.
Centre 404 are able to provide our volunteers with a reference for either paid or voluntary work after 3-6 months of successful volunteering.
Volunteers receive a full induction to Centre 404 as well as safeguarding, first aid training and a service user specific induction.
